The Hyde in Hendon featured a tricky site and a sceptical planning authority.
NEAT approached me in 2015 when they were struggling to get traction with Barnet planners over a tired Homebase store in The Hyde, Hendon. Owned by Strathclyde Pension Fund (Glasgow City Council) and managed by DTZI, the plan was to develop a new mixed use community of 400 homes, workhub, and supporting commercial uses.
The site was a tricky shape, with a sizeable drop from The Hyde down to the Silk Stream at the rear. However, Consent was secured in 2016, and the development is being built out by L&Q.
